Using Your Personal Physics Webspace

/!\ Note that in the examples, "username" should be replaced with your Unix username.

Public Web Pages

  • You can create and maintain personal web space on the physics server by simply creating file in, or copying files to this location /var/phy/web/users/username/public.
  • The inital or default page displayed in your web space will be index.html or index.php.
  • Access your default web page with this address: http://www.phy.duke.edu/~username.
  • You can use any text editor to create or modify HTML files.
  • You may have noticed a "/private" directory as well. This directory protects contents of your htpasswd generated files.

Faculty requiring web pages for courses should send mail to webmaster.[at].phy.duke.edu requesting the creation of a directory on our web server for your HTML files.
