How has being a Physics graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"The education that I received at Duke set me for a successful career in Physics. I had excellent mentors, who always encouraged me and kept me in the right path. I am eternally indebted to Profs. Kate Scholberg and Haiyan Gao for providing me with really excellent research opportunities that allowed me to discover my talents. Also to all the other instructors for their dedication and attention. I always felt that the Department cared about us and established an inclusive and welcoming space for us to focus on Physics. I look at my experience as an undergraduate at Duke as a model for us to follow at the University of Washington."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Physics programs?

"You are all potential. The opportunities are endless. Enjoy having your career ahead of you and the feeling that you change the world!"
