Solid-State Devices for Quantum Sensing and Information Processing

The aim of this class is to introduce the general principles of solid-state quantum devices, covering electronic devices used in quantum sensing and information processing technology. Required solid-state and quantum mechanics fundamentals, quantum dots and spin qubits, Josephson junctions and superconducting qubits, sensors such as SQUIDs (superconducting quantum interference devices) and MKIDs (microwave kinetic inductance detectors), Majorana fermions and topologically protected qubits. Suggested prerequisites: PHYSICS 363 and PHYSICS 464 or equivalent.
