Department of PhysicsThe Physics Instructional Machine Shop has now on boarded a new manager and is accepting new students for the Safety and Machine Operation (SAMO) course. After paying for the class and completing the course, students are allowed to use the shop during regular hours for an annual fee. The Physics Instructional Machine Shop is equipped with drill presses, milling machines, lathes, bandsaws, grinders, sanders, a bead blaster and a wide assortment of hand tools. The SAMO course is structured for an individual to acquire the skills needed to use any and all of this equipment to fabricate their own custom tools and instruments, as well as modify and repair existing equipment.
