The physics minor is intended as a pathway for students to build educational depth in physics as a broad field or in subdiscipline as a way to augment another major. A total of five physics courses must be taken at Duke to satisfy the minor.
Requirements: 5 courses
- PHYSICS 161D: Fundamentals of Physics I or its equivalent*
- PHYSICS 162D: Fundamentals of Physics II or its equivalent*
- PHYSICS 264L: Optics and Modern Physics
- Two additional physics courses numbered above 200.
*Students with Physics 25 and 26 credit and a strong background may substitute Physics 163D for both 161D and 162D; in this case, another elective at 200-level or above is required to satisfy the required course total.
