Hertha Sponer Presidential Lectureship

In November 2007 Duke President Richard Brodhead launched the Presidential Lectureship designed to honor a prominent woman who had been on the Duke faculty.

 

The first lecture was on November 6, 2007 by Margaret Murnane (University of Colorado) on “How to make Atoms Sing and Molecules Dance”

 

The second lecture was on April 7,2009, by Ingrid Daubechies (Princeton University) on “Applications woven into the mathematical fabric."

 

  The third lecture, on April 18, 2011 was given by Jeanne Altmann (Princeton University) on “Living on the Edge Successfully: From womb to grave with friends, family and physiological flexibility”
